Ethos and Values

Our Aims

Bedford Road is committed to being a welcoming, community based school.  The school’s aim is to promote a sense of Belief in all our children and families, with the goal of Achieving high expectations in all areas of learning and that as a team – child, family and school we can do this Together.  We also foster three key rules throughout the school: Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be the Best You Can Be!

The curriculum is delivered using a subject approach to study.  The curriculum is cyclical in nature and builds progressively from EYFS to year 6.  The children receive regular opportunities to review and ‘retrieve’ their knowledge.

Children learn in many different ways and our lessons incorporate different learning approaches, ensuring active participation in all activities.  This active approach to learning will ensure that children are motivated.

Our effective use of assessment for learning ensures that children can see the purpose of their own learning and all lessons are expected to be led by an appropriate learning objective which is shared with the children, along with related success criteria.

If you would like to read more, our full teaching and learning policy is available from the school office.
